5 years in business
I started my part-time consulting biz 5 years ago. I began the journey because I missed some aspects of consulting and it's grown into a pretty profitable hobby!

That's perfect! And you're good at it. Are most of your clients around Syracuse?

I'm going to send you a message. May have some business for ya.

Fantastic Tim!

Congrats, Tim!

I just passed my 5 year mark too as a part-time consultant. Congrats!
My business failed at first as I started out as a HR Consultant. However, I learned quick the competition is FIERCE in that game. I found out that there are seemingly millions of us Baby-Boomer HR Managers with many trying the consulting business too. I tried and tried to get customers and failed each time. Finally I shut myself in a room made a list of all my strengths. The one that came up soon was something most HR people have little to no experience, Industrial Health & Safety! So I redid my entire business plan! Closed up the website I had professionally done, and closed the former LLC. Rebranded, with new logos, and new LLC papers! Even made my own website, completely on my own.
I have been as busy as I want and made a few bucks, enough for a big toy or two! As most people know after first meeting me, meet people and I love to talk. If you want to pay me good money to do those things I am all in! I have a few rules though!
#1 I do not do anything I am not qualified to do when it comes to "Authorized Training!" If it informational like, Outreach, I will do. I will talk about PRCS and Fall Protection but when it comes to "Authorized" I suggest others!
#2 If it does not feel like work, I am comfortable with the job, and FUN, I am your man! Examples Machine Guarding Lockouts, PITS, an so on! If it is work and not fun, I am out!
#3 My limit is 30 hours a week and little more! My wife and three grown daughters are all over me if I do much more in the business!
I had to take a couple months off for serious health reasons and I am approaching my 70th birthday. My customers are all gone. I am trying to figure out if I want to keep going! I will have to start over. I now seem on the mend! Most of me does want to keep going, but more of me than I care to admit is saying, "Enough!"
Pray for me as I am in a quandary.
